Chasing Rainbows 5k

Donation Goal: $2,000

Chasing Rainbows 5k is in honor of and dedicated to my son, B.B. Collins, who died in 2019 from hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) caused by maternal alloimmunization. Following his death, my family and I received tremendous support from the local OBX Mommy and Me during our time of grieving. Later, as we attempted to wrap our heads around our rare medical condition, the Maternal Alloimmunization Foundation was a guiding light, which eventually led to our Rainbow baby. Through the support of family, friends, and these organizations I began to find a purpose in this devastating loss. This year I am proud to announce that I have created The Chasing Rainbows Foundation. Donations will go directly to The Chasing Rainbows Foundation and OBX Mommy & Me. The Chasing Rainbows Foundation offers compassionate support to mothers and families affected by pregnancy and infant loss by providing education, teaching self-advocacy skills, helping families cope with loss, and giving hope for subsequent pregnancies. The Chasing Rainbows Foundation will now be offering counseling sessions to mothers who have experienced the loss of a child. The Chasing Rainbows Foundation's goal is to teach coping mechanisms, to help adjust to life after loss, foster hope, and ensure that no one faces their grieving journey alone. The Maternal Alloimmunization Foundation works to spread knowledge, advocate for patients, and improve healthcare practices. OBX Mommy and Me provides an inclusive space where families come together for social events, support one another, and teach our future generation to interact with our community in a positive way. If you can't participate in the race, please still consider donating to these causes.
