The Adirondack Rail Trail will be one of the nation's premier, year-round recreation trails for bicyclists, runners, walkers, birders, and wheelchair users, as well as for snowmobiles, snowshoeing, and skiing in winter. The trail will serve users of all ages and abilities. It will enable residents and visitors to enjoy safe, healthful exercise, commune with nature, and soak up Adirondack history. All this in a peaceful, safe, scenic setting along a path with no more than a 2% grade!

The Adirondack Rail Trail Association (ARTA) is a trail-town not-for-profit organization that represents and promotes the business and municipal interests along the 34-mile Adirondack Rail Trail. Founded in 2010, ARTA has represented over 13,000 citizens, 400 businesses, and six representative governments in the effort to get this world-class all season trail to the construction stage.

Construction is now two-thirds complete and construction is expected to be completed in 2025.  ARTA is again representing all stakeholders in the public-facing aspects of the project, providing visitor information through the web, social media, and printed materials, and inter-community coordination through a diverse board that represents both commercial and governmental interests. Board representation is open to qualified business and municipal leaders.

ARTA is funded by grants, donations, member dues, underwriting, sponsorships, and merchandise sales. Donations to ARTA are tax-deductible. A generous grant from the North Elba Local Enhancement and Advancement Fund (LEAF) has allowed this website to be updated and will allow ARTA to launch a new site in early 2025!
