The Friends of Oscar Scherer Park (FOSP) is a 501c3 non-profit organization officially designated a Citizen Support Organization by the Department of Environmental Protection. Our purpose is to raise funds from events and appropriate grants that can be used by Oscar Scherer State Park for projects and equipment purchases. The “Friends” make up the shortfall in state funding and also plan more ambitious projects that we consider beneficial to the park. FOSP provides funds for the purchase of equipment and for the production of maps, fact sheets, trail guides, newsletters and other interactive displays to help visitors experience the park more fully.
Recently completed is the $200,000 Boardwalk Project that spans a corner of Lake Osprey. The boardwalk is fully ADA compliant and provides both a fishing pier and a general recreation focus for the park.
