The Johnston Arts Council is a non-profit, volunteer-run 501(c)3 founded in 2019 to encourage and sponsor art and arts activities in Johnston, Iowa. The Arts Council is currently working with the City of Johnston and Hansen Company to select art for the Town Center development.
Johnston’s new Town Center development will include a number of public art pieces, including Ripples by Ames-based artist Reinaldo Correa. The 12′ tall steel and aluminum sculpture will be installed in spring 2021.
Additionally, the Arts Council will work with an artist to create an original to be embedded in the glass panes of a new bus shelter at 62nd Avenue and Merle Hay Road. And Des Moines artist James Navarro has been selected to create a two-piece mural for the concessions building at the new Town Center development.
