Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (VHOCC) was founded in 1978 by Rose Crumb, a visionary nurse who recognized the critical need for home-based, end-of-life care long before most of the country. Today VHOCC is an integral part of Clallam County, providing physical, emotional, and spiritual support to terminally ill patients and their families with free around the clock registered nursing availability and trained volunteers. VHOCC offers nursing care, nursing aide assistance, and social worker support to hospice and palliative patients as well as support and education for families. In addition, VHOCC offers the entire community an extensive grief and bereavement program, a Lending Closet for medical equipment, informative programs, and educational events focused on end-of-life.
