At Communities In Schools (CIS), we surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. At Communities In Schools, we work directly inside public schools, supporting vulnerable students and those with the greatest risk of dropping out. We empower thousands of students to stay in school and on the path to graduation each year. Our trained Student Support Specialists do this by linking students and their families with resources, including mental health counseling, tutoring, attendance monitoring, mentoring, and afterschool programs. CIS also provides whole- school supports like free school supplies, resource fairs, and crisis intervention services.
Our unique model works because it’s based on national research, driven by community relationships, and supported by local resources.
Last school year, we provided free programming and support to 21,919 students, 1,958 of those received ongoing, case-managed support.
