Ghosts of the Brandywine Trail Run/Walk

The mission of Velo Amis is two-fold and includes not only advocating and supporting local cyclists, but also supporting other non-profit organizations, individuals and causes that are important to members of our local cycling and running community.

100% of your donation will go to help the Urban Bike Project of Wilmington.  UBP is a non-profit community bike shop bringing the joys of bicycling to Wilmington residents, both youth and adults. A bike might mean affordable transportation to a night shift at a warehouse, when buses are no longer running. It might mean recovery from a serious health issue and a new lease on life. Or it might mean time spent with family, exploring your neighborhood, or feeling the wind in your hair. Bikes change lives and revolutionize communities!

Urban Bike Project of Wilmington has recently completed a $500,000 renovation of their bike shop, located in the historic “police stables” in Wilmington’s Upper East Side neighborhood. They are getting more people to work, helping more kids build confidence, and putting more bikes on Wilmington’s streets. It’s never been a more exciting time to get involved with Urban Bike Project!

What does your donation accomplish for Urban Bike Project of Wilmington?

$1,000 – sponsors summer jobs for two Youth Mentors as junior camp counselors
$500 – Buys a years’ worth of tools for our Open Shop Program to replace broken/missing equipment
$250 – Sponsors a weekend ride for Wilmington youth
$100 – Purchases a portable work stand to increase our capacity for school Earn-A-Bike programs
$50 – Covers material costs for one Wilmington child to participate on an Earn-A-Bike program
$25 – Buys a lock and lights for a Free Bike recipient so that they can get to work safely and reliably
