Woodlands Conservancy's Hike-a-Thon

Donation Goal: $10,000

Woodlands Conservancy was organized as a land trust in 2001 to preserve and restore forested wetlands in the Greater New Orleans area.  Your support helps us to continue our efforts to protect vital wetlands that protect our homes and businesses and leave a legacy for future generations.

Woodlands Conservancy owns 190 acres of forested wetlands in Orleans Parish known as Delacroix Preserve and  650-acres of forested wetlands in Plaquemines Parish known as Woodlands Preserve. Woodlands Preserve is managed as a public park that is free and open to the public from dawn to dusk and includes over 11 miles of educational and recreational trails leading to a grouping of WWII Ammunition Magazines.

With the current rate of wetland loss and relative sea level rise, the 840-acres that we manage are considered to likely be the largest forested land mass between open water and the city of New Orleans in the next 30-40 years.
