ABOUT THE CENTER
Proceeds of the event directly support The Center, a non-profit focusing on shifting the paradigm to break the cycle of generational violence by recognizing that prevention is part of solving the problem for good. Beyond crisis support, The Center teaches healthy living skills.
WHAT IS NEVER SOLO?
Never Solo is on online resource to provide resources, education and support that seeks to prevent and treat abuse in the rock climbing community. We help organizations like climbing gyms provide education resources to their members and staff and to train parents of athletes and coaches on recognizing and preventing abuse.
We also provide resources and education materials for climbers who have suffered abuse and are looking for help to get a foothold to overcome trauma.
EVENT DETAILS
The Center Never Solo Rock Climb-A-Thon is fun and friendly top rope climbing competition that factors in both difficulty and 'mileage' on the rock. The event is a fundraiser to raise awareness in the rock climbing community about sexual assaults.
In honor of our guest speaker, the event will be a competition to mirror Lynn Hill's El Capitan climb of 3,000 vertical miles.
Lynn Hill had first attempted to free The Nose in 1989 with Simon Nadin, a fellow World Cup climber. From 1986 to 1992, Hill won 15 major comps, including Rock Master in 1987 in Arco, the World Cup in France in 1989 and Rock Master again in 1992. Hill and Nadin’s attempt to free The Nose didn’t work out, but four years later, together with her partner Brooke Sandahl, Hill became the first person, male or female, to free the route. It took four days. After her climb, she famously said, “It goes, boys!
HOW CAN I PARTICIPATE?
You can sign up as an individual, fundraise as an individual, set up a team fundraising team, or join a team. Fundraising registrants who raise $250 or more will have their $50 entry fee waived! All registrants will receive the following:
- Entry registration into the Climb-A-Thon
- Entry into the Lynn Hill speaking engagment at Touchstone Brewing Company following the Climb-A-Thon, including:
- Two drink tickets
- Discount food items
For non-participants that would like to support the fundraiser you have three options:
- Option #1: Click "Find Participant" and donate to their fundraising page.
- Option #2: Click "Create Fundraiser" to create either an individual or team fundraising page and ask for assisstance from your friends and family to reach your goal.
- Option #3: Click "Donate" to make a donation directly to The Center.
