The Friends of the Green Mountain Scenic Byway (FGMSB) is a 501(C) 3 nonprofit organization made up of local citizens and representatives of local governments and other citizens’ organizations.
Friends of Green Mountain Scenic Byway Goals
Goal 1: Preserve, maintain, protect and enhance the intrinsic resources of the Byway Corridor
Goal 2: Maintain the Byway as an international destination for touring and competitive cyclists
Goal 3: Improve the safety of bicyclists, pedestrians, and motorists as they interact on the Byway
Goal 4: Involve the community as much as possible, and act with its support
Goal 5: Increase public awareness of the Byway’s unique intrinsic resources and the value of these resources to the community and state
Goal 6: Protect and promote the Byway as a recreational resource, supporting development of an environmentally sustainable eco tourism and heritage tourism industry
Goal 7: Support the restoration of Lake Apopka
Goal 8: Support the Comprehensive Plans of the local governments with jurisdictions within the Scenic Byway Corridor
