At Communities In Schools (CIS), surrounds students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. At Communities In Schools, we work directly inside public schools, supporting vulnerable students and those with the greatest risk of dropping out. We empower thousands of students to stay in school and on the path to graduation each year. Our trained Student Support Specialists do this by linking students and their families with resources, including mental health counseling, tutoring, attendance monitoring, mentoring, and afterschool programs. CIS also provides whole- school supports like free school supplies, resource fairs, and crisis intervention services.
Our unique model works because it’s based on national research, driven by community relationships, and supported by local resources.
Last school year, we provided free programming and support to 21,919 students, 1,958 of those received ongoing, case-managed support.
99% stayed in school
93% graduated
88% improved their academics
77% improved their attendance
87% improved their behavior
Since 2023 - Full Send Challenge participants have donated over $3000 to Communities in Schools Cape Fear.

Eden Village of Wilmington is a 31-unit tiny home community specially designed to provide permanent homes for chronically homeless individuals including patients of the local hospital. Many patients of the medical center experience chronic illness, which are treatable but require consistent living circumstances to improve treatment results. A home is an essential component to long-term health care for these individuals and a proven, permanent solution to chronic homelessness.
Since 2020 Full Send Challenge participants have donated over $60,000 to support the work of Eden Village. Including the purchase of one of the 31 homes.
