The Capital City Race is dedicated to Mental Health Awareness and is in memory of Jared Palmer, who lost his life to mental illness in November 2021. There are multiple routes available, including 5k, 10k, and Half Marathon courses showcasing numerous landmarks around the Capital City. This event will start at the Jefferson City Capitol at 7:00 AM on May 10, 2025. Come out and walk, jog, or sprint with us on May 10, 2025. Join the fun and celebrate Mental Health Awareness!
Registration cost varies depending on your race selection. Registration includes one t-shirt, medal, bib, and swag bag! Pre-packet pick-up will be held on May 9, 2025 from 4:00-6:00 PM at Fleet Feet, 2701 W Edgewood Dr, Jefferson City, MO 65101. Race Day packet pick up and registration will start at 5:30 AM at the Missouri State Capitol. T-shirts will only be guaranteed for those who register BEFORE May 1, 2024.
In Memory of Jared Palmer
The Capital City Race is dedicated to raising awareness about mental health. We honor the rich yet tragically short life of Jared Palmer, who lost his battle with mental illness in November 2021. Proceeds from this event go towards an education fund established for Jared Palmer's children, while another portion supports the Cole County Treatment Court Programs.
Thanks to community partners, donations, and sponsors, the Capital City Race generated over $10,000 in 2023 and more than $15,000 in 2024. These funds were allocated to Jared's children's tuition and the Cole County Treatment Courts, which include the Veterans Court, Adult Drug Court, DWI Court, and Co-Occurring Court. In 2023, the proceeds funded a Thanksgiving dinner for around 100 participants, many of whom would have otherwise gone without a meal. The funds also brought in motivational speaker Josh Buffington, who led Treatment Court participants in a practice focused on change and goal setting. Moreover, the proceeds have helped cover expenses for free community-wide events during the Cole County Recovery Awareness Week, held every September during Recovery Month.

Awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each age group for the 5K, 10K, and Half-Marathon events.

Parking
Free parking is available in the State parking lots located at Missouri Boulevard and West Main Street, opposite the Mill Bottom, and at Missouri Boulevard and West High Street.
