Description
This adventure race is designed to help the folks new to adventure racing get there feet wet in the sport and to challenge veteran racers who have limited time to race.
Racers will hike and paddle to collect a series of checkpoints around a central transition area in Morrow Mountain State Park.
Hiking and Paddling are the only disciplines this race will consist of as there are no trails designated for mountain biking within Morrow Mtn State Park.
Gear
Boats:
Each team/ solo racers needs to either
1) Provide their own kayak / canoe or
2) Rent through NCARS (see "add-on options" during registration)
*There will be a limited number of boats for rent — first come, first served.
Required individual gear:
Light stick on PFD if paddling between sunset and sunrise
Food and fluids to last the duration of the race
A pen/ pencil/ sharpie
Knife
Whistle
Individual headlight with extra batteries
Required Team gear:
Canoe or Kayak
UTM plotter with 1:24,000 scale (you may have to plot points)
Compass
Watch
Cell phone and waterproof case, just in case
Basic first aid kit
Blinking light while on the boat, Our suggestion if the person in the back of the boat wears a head lamp backwards.
