Marshall Mountain | Missoula, MT

May 11th, 2025

Get ready, Missoula! This brand-new trail running event and celebration of spring is all about connection — to each other, to the trails, and to the special place that is Marshall Mountain.

Whether you’re racing with friends or testing yourself solo, this event celebrates the resurgence of Marshall Mountain as a great outdoor community space.

Expect a fun, festive, and inclusive atmosphere! There will be aid stations, music, and plenty of support, whether you’re aiming for a personal best or just out to enjoy the day. And don’t forget the after-party!

Marshall Mountain has long been a hub for outdoor adventure in Missoula, and this event is a way to honor its legacy and create a new springtime tradition. As the snow melts we’ll gather to celebrate — because running is better when we do it together.

We can’t wait to see you at the first-ever Marshall Mountain Revival Trail Runs. So please tell your friends and join us!

Courses and Format

Revival Relay 25K

Course: 4 loops, 15.8 miles, 5,030 ft elevation gain

Format: Relay teams will complete three loops on Marshall Mountain (Hot Sauce, Hello Kitty, Moose) with one person running each loop. The 4th and final Local Glory Loop will be run all together.

Each loop incorporates the same ascent but then takes a different trail down for the descent. The team decides the order in which the three big loops are completed. After finishing all three loops, the entire team must then run the final “Local Glory” loop around the base area and cross the finish line as a group to stop the clock.

Relay teams can be: Three-person – each runner completes one loop, or Two-person – one runner completes two loops, the other completes one.

Revival Solo 25K

Course: 4 loops, 15.8 miles, 5,030 ft elevation gain

Format: Solo runners will complete all three mountain loops (Hot Sauce, Hello Kitty, Moose) in any order they wish, followed by the final Local Glory loop around the base area to finish.

Moose 5 Mile

Course: 1 loop, 5 miles, 1,650 ft elevation gain

Format: A straightforward yet challenging course. Runners climb Izzy Up to the top of the Marshall trails, descend Moose to Headwall, and finish with the Local Glory loop (.4 miles) through the base area.

Sprouts Run

Course: 1 loop, 0.4 miles, 80 ft elevation gain

Format: A short and sweet loop around the Marshall base area — sure to be a spectacle! Homemade cookies await at the finish line! 🍪

Revival Aid Stations

We will have two aid stations on the course ready to revive you in your race. We will have one at the start/finish line and relay handoff zone and another (the Three Forks aid station) at the top of the climb 2.8 miles from the beginning of each loop.   For your hydration needs, there will be water and Skratch Labs electrolyte drink available. Food options include Skratch Labs energy chews, as well as a variety of salty and sweet snack options.  You will also feel nourishment from the energy and good vibes coming from our fantastic volunteers!

We will have The North Face Trail shoe demos you can try out. Big Sky Brewing will be on-site providing beverages for our runners.  And Sapphire PT will be giving massages to take the pain out of those tired legs!

Also, we are so excited about our community partners who will be in attendance. It's so important to us that the Marshall Mountain Revival serves as a platform for the running community to connect with groups doing good work for the open spaces and trails we love.  That's why we have organizations like Run Wild Missoula, Go Run Missoula, Trust for Public Lands, Missoula Mountain Bike Coalition, Freinds of Marshall Mountain, Five Valleys Land Trust, and more in attendance on race day.  We hope you'll say hello and learn more about opportunities to support their work
