Running and walking are not on 'Pause', and we would like to invite you to participate in our virtual 5k/walk for brain cancer. All proceeds will be donated to Allivea Maxon's family from Hilton NY, and Craig Winter's family from Pittsford NY. Allivea battled Pilocytic Astrocytoma brain cancer since she was 8 months old, she lost her battle with this horrible disease on February 11, 2020 at the age of 6 years old. Craig is a 10 year old who has been battling a neuronal glioma since he was 2 years old. These kids and their families have endured more than anyone should ever have to. Coronavirus Update - April 9, 2020
The Covid 19 is causing us to go virtual for our events so everyone can participate solo to adhere with social distancing and gatherings.
The events of the past few weeks and months have been unpredictable and unprecedented. We’ve had many sleepless nights planning an event that is now 71 days away. And we know you have been looking forward to this community event and supporting Allivea Maxon’s family and Craig Winter and family while bringing awareness to this horrible disease: brain cancer.
East Rochester High School is still on board with hosting our 5k event on June 6, 2020. We are continuing our planning for the event along with various contingencies. The public events such as this have not been cancelled or postponed as of yet for May or June of 2020.
If you have any questions, we’d love to hear from you. Email us at beatbraincancer5k@gmail.com. We will respond to everyone. If it takes a little while to hear from us, please be patient, it just means we’ve heard from a lot of you! We always strive to be a good community partner, and now is a time we all need to work together as a community and society to get through this crisis.
We hope everyone remains positive through this difficult time. We are all in this together and together we will get through it. Keep running and walking outside, this is something that you can still do as NYS remains on “Pause.”
Thank you for your continued patience, understanding and support. We will keep you updated, please consider joining us on June 6th! Kick Covid-19 to the curb!
Coronavirus Update - March 12, 2020
With the rapidly changing global environment, we understand everyone is very anxious. We wanted to take a moment after the president's speech to provide an update for our fifth annual Beat Brain Cancer event.
We have been actively monitoring the Coronavirus, COVID-19, and planning since January. We are in constant contact with the Department of Health, State, and Local Officials and will follow all recommended safety and health measures to protect the interests of everyone involved in the community and the event.
There is now one confirmed case in Rochester NY at this time, the race remains scheduled to occur on June 6, 2020.
As runners, we are part of a great community committed to health and wellness and together we will get through this.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and continued support.
We promise to keep you updated as we navigate this ever-changing situation.
