Description
On Saturday, May 11, 2024, the Scott Laird Hometown Heroes Scholarship Team will host a special 5K Walk/Run fundraiser in memory of Major Scott Laird, Bronze Star recipient, and Lackawanna Trail alumni.
A proud resident of Dalton, PA, Scott joined the army after graduating high school and served two distinguished tours of duty in Iraq and Kuwait. During his time in the military, Scott dreamed of the day he could return home to NEPA and begin building his future with his family, all the while giving back to the community he loved most.
100% of the proceeds from this 5K will be donated to The Hometown Heroes Scholarship. Established in 2021 in Scott’s honor, this scholarship aids future heroes in the community as they realize their own dreams, whether that be through military service, higher education, or a variety of honorable paths.

Important Information
Race Day Registration/check-in will begin at 8:30AM. Race will start promptly at 10AM.
Pre-Registration will close at 5PM Friday May 12th. there will be same day registration available, but same day registrations must be paid by cash or check only.
We have a Student $10 entry option for those under 22, where you get to race but do not receive a shirt. This is an excellent way to race!
We are offering a Virtual 5k option for those who cannot compete on the day of the race. You can complete the race any time from 5/7-5/13.
There will be an aid station serving water on the course.
