Description

Water Unites Us All! Join us for an in-person walk on Sunday, May 4, to help, in partnership with the BARKA Foundation, our friends in Burkina Faso have access to clean water! We will meet at Wyoming Seminary's Upper School Bell Tower at 1 PM and walk along Market Street to the Susquehanna River, around Kirby Park and back (approximately 3 paved miles). Participants are asked to bring and carry filled water bottle(s) in connection with women and children in Burkina Faso who carry as much as 40 pounds of water a distance of 6 kilometers (almost 4 miles)! Participants will receive custom Walk for Water stickers the day of the event. Participants are asked to wear a blue shirt to show their support. Individual registration is required along with a base donation of $5; additional donations of any amount using the donate button are needed and greatly appreciated. Funds raised will go toward building a much needed second well in Djoana, a village in Fada for displaced Burkinabé, and toward clean water storage and access for high school students. When signing up, Sem students, faculty, staff, and students should select their respective group. Sem society and blue and white team points will be awarded based on the most students who walk. This event is open to all. Check out this video with Namoungou School students, Sem students, and Sem families showing the impact of our 2021 Walk/Ride for Water when we partnered with the BARKA Foundation to help Namoungou School students in Fada.
