Parking Garage Ambassador/Attendant

Details

Volunteers will direct traffic in the Elmwood Park Parking Garage, assisting participants with finding the closest parking spot. They will also be the eyes and ears of the race in the parking garage, looking out for the safety of all.

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Volunteers will stand at entrances/exits of parking lots that could serve as a bypass to allow a vehicle on course. Volunteers will be responsible for letting vehicles park, but not allowing them on the course. They will direct cars to the proper exit to bypass the course.

Anti-Vehicle Barrier Attendant

Details

Volunteers will stand near the anti-vehicle Barriers and if an emergency vehicle needs to get through, the volunteer will let them through by disconnecting the chain.

Flaggers

You must be 18-99 years old to volunteer for this task.

Details

Flaggers will be used at intersections that require traffic control. These volunteers will need to have a current VDOT flagger certification. On race day, you will use your flagger certification to direct traffic and to direct runners in the correct direction and prevent traffic from entering the course. Thank you for your support of this awesome Roanoke tradition!

More information about training course: Sign up for this job to be contacted about training course options. Training courses consist of a total of about 1 hour. This includes watching a 30-minute video and taking/passing a 25-question test. Upon completion of the course, participants will receive a VDOT flagger training certification card which is good for 4 years. We will offer one course on a weekend, one on a weekday evening, and one at lunchtime on a weekday.

Crowd Control volunteers will be stationed around the start area, finish area, and Elmwood Park to usher participants in the correct direction. Thank you for your support of this awesome Roanoke tradition!
