Partnering with the UNM Cancer Center enhances your company’s public profile; supports vital research and patient care that impacts employees and the wider community; and demonstrates a deep commitment to health and wellness.
- Now entering its ninth year, the Lobo Cancer Challenge is the premier fundraising and community outreach event benefiting the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center.
- Held annually in September, it offers bike rides, a 5K run/walk, a stair challenge and a Cub Pack Fun Run for children.
- Starting line and finish line celebrations are held at University Stadium, home of UNM Lobo football.
- Every dollar that Challengers raise goes to their choice of fund that supports cancer treatment, research, clinical trials, education and training, or community outreach at the UNM Comprehensive Cancer Center.
- Sponsorship is critical to allow the Center to direct 100% of participants’ fundraising to education, research, and patient care. In 2024, 1,704 participants, 83 teams, 150+ volunteers, and 38 sponsors joined together to raise more than $652,000 in support of world-class cancer care and research at the UNM Cancer Center. We hope you’ll join us in 2025!
As the only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center within a 500-mile radius, we have the state’s largest team of cancer physicians and served more than 15,000 patients each year from every county in the state. Our mission is to focus scientific and clinical expertise—as well as interdisciplinary education and training programs—on those cancers that have high incidence, mortality, or disparity in the multiethnic and underserved populations of New Mexico.
We turn discovery into hope, translating groundbreaking research into new treatments for cancer patients.
The significant cancer health disparities in our state require financial support far beyond our budget. We depend upon the generosity of donors and community partners to help us honor our commitment as a public service health organization and to reduce the health barriers our patients face.
